Hitting

The Toronto Blue Jays can absolutely mash. They start with Troy Tulowitzki at the top, move to Josh Donaldson, who is one of the top third baseman in the game, right behind him, and slide down to Jose Bautista, who can hit the ball out of the park at any time, after.

Edwin Encarnacion is next, and he’s hit over 30 homers in each of the past three seasons. He’s driven in over 100 runs in two of the last three, and the year he didn’t, he drove in 98. What a scrub, right?

How about Russell Martin behind the plate? Not only is he one of the best defensive catchers in the game, Martin has hit over 15 homers in ever year but one since 2011.

Justin Smoak has power at the first base position. Chris Colabello has been a steal off the waiver wire for the Blue Jays, playing a little corner outfield and first base. Kevin Pillar has emerged and begun to establish himself in the outfield. Ben Revere can steal bases and act as a second leadoff hitter at the bottom of the order.

Devon Travis has had an outstanding rookie season, and if he can come back it gives the Jays yet another offensive weapon.

It’s no wonder that the Jays lead baseball in runs, doubles and OPS, are second in homers and fourth in average. In a pitching era, the Jays are leading the way in offense, and that makes them really dangerous.
