Five Reasons the New York Mets could win the World Series

With all of the moves the New York Mets have made, they have a bit more swagger and confidence than they had earlier in the season. Because of that, they know that they can compete with the big boys.
They swept the Nationals and Marlins, and following a tough series against Tampa are on the brink of sweeping Colorado. Even more, they took two of three from the Dodgers a couple of weeks ago, a feat that included ending Zack Greinke’s long scoreless inning streak.
They have shown resiliency many times this season, best illustrated by themselves up after losing a heartbreaker of a game against the Padres on July 30 that had some rain delays at weird times.
The Mets also have a favorable schedule down the stretch. They play the Nationals six times, have two games against the Orioles and three with the Yankees after this weekend’s series with the Pirates. Those are the only games against teams over .500. Three of those games against the Nationals are in the final series of the season. If they are close to the Nats at that point, the Mets can control their own destiny.
It’s all out in front of the Mets. They have the pieces to get it done and make the playoffs. Even more, they have what it takes to make some noise once they get there. With they way the baseball playoffs are, why not the Mets?
