DeVante Parker-Miami Dolphins

Another rookie lined up for heavy usage is Dolphins WR DeVante Parker. Parker isn’t quite as much of a boom-or-bust fantasy football WR pick as Funchess is, but he does look to be trending toward a starting role with Miami who drafted him with the 14th pick overall in the NFL draft last year.

Parker had a foot injury which has kept him out of preseason games, but Miami activated him off the PUP list yesterday, so he can now participate in practice on a regular basis. While we may not see him in preseason, that should help keep his hype level down and allow him to stay outside the top 50 WR drafted.

Parker has great after-the-catch speed and is the tallest receiver in the Dolphins WR corps.  There should be plenty of opportunity for Parker to get on the field since both Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline left the team this offseason. He doesn’t have the pressure of being the team’s top option with Jarvis Landry’s emergence last season, but he does have the potential of being a starter with a large role early in the season.

His health throughout the rest of preseason will definitely be something to monitor, but right now he looks to be trending toward a week 1 return.  If you can add him to the end of your fantasy football WR corps and wait until he’s healthy, he is a pick that will return value later on in the season if he and the Miami offense progresses as many people expect it to.
