Fantasy Football: 10 things to watch Preseason Week 3
8. T.J. Yeldon
In a similar situation to Melvin Gordon, T.J. Yeldon is expected to see his first preseason action this Friday night as the Jags’ host the Lions. Yeldon has been practicing regularly, but he has missed the first two weeks of preseason with a minor finger injury.
Yeldon has some veterans to beat out in the Jags’ timeshare with Denard Robinson and Toby Gerhart still on the Jacksonville roster. His role in that timeshare to start the season will be the determining factor to his early season value, so seeing how he looks in his first NFL action will be extremely important this week.
According to Coach Gus Bradley, Yeldon will get work with the first team, and so far he has looked great in camp according to reporters who have covered the team’s camp. If Yeldon can clearly define himself as the lead back headed into week 1 he definitely has RB2 upside.
By the middle of the season, it looks like Yeldon will be the man in the Jacksonville backfield, but how long it takes him to seize the lion’s share of the carries will be determined in how he fares this week against Detroit.
