Small Sample Size Special: Brandon Crawford-SS-San Fran: Crawford has had nice success in his limited experience against Dodgers’ lefty Brett Anderson.  In his career, Crawford is 5-8 (.624) with a double and a pair of RBI against Anderson.  Crawford has also made a habit of killing the Dodgers this season going 14-34 (.412) against them. If he’s able to come back from his oblique injury that cost him some time this weekend, look for Crawford to be a solid option in this NL West matchup.

10. Davis Ortiz-DH-Boston Red Sox: Ortiz has had quite the power surge over the last few weeks and is still in hot pursuit of 500 home runs.  Tonight, he and the Red Sox open up their homestead with a game against the Yankees as they look to build on their 4-2 road trip.  Big Papi and the rest of the Sox lineup will face Ivan Nova tonight who Ortiz is 8-22 (.364) against in his career with a pair of doubles, a home run, and four RBI.

9. Chris Davis-1B-Baltimore Orioles: Baltimore is quickly fading from the AL Wild Card race having dropped ten of their last 11 games.  They’ve fallen back in the AL East all the way past the Rays who they host this week at Camden Yards.  They’ll open the series tonight against Chris Archer who is having an outstanding season for Tampa.  One O’s hitter who does have a good history against him, though, is Chris Davis who is 4-10 (.400) with two doubles, a home run, and RBI in their previous meetings.

8. Yadier Molina-C-St. Louis Cardinals: The Cardinals continue to cruise in the NL Central after taking two of three from the Giants in San Francisco this weekend.  They’ll start this week with a series at Busch Stadium agains the Nationals as they face Gio Gonzalez.  One Cardinals’ hitter with a good history against Gio is Yadier Molina who has managed to go 5-12 (.417) with three doubles and an RBI in their previous meetings.
