Ty Montgomery-Green Bay Packers

Jordy Nelson’s injury sent shock waves through the fantasy football world and caused everyone to overhaul their WR rankings coming into the season.  The Packers’ offense under Aaron Rodgers is one of the best in the NFL for fantasy football production, and whoever gets time at WR will be worth a look.

Randall Cobb and Davante Adams undoubtedly get the biggest value boost from Jordy’s injury, but I also like Ty Montgomery who looks to have the inside track on the third-WR role.  Montgomery played ahead of Jeff Janis throughout the preseason and had a 52-yard catch against the Eagles first-team defense in Preseason Week 3.  He finished with two catches for 71 yards, and looked like he had a solid grasp on the routes and progressions in the Green Bay attack.

Montgomery is a rookie in his first year out of Stanford, so it’s hard to say how good he can be. However, in this offense with the opportunity ahead of him, he is more than worth his 236th ADP.  While Janis is the name some people are over-hyping into the mid-rounds Montgomery has stayed nice and quiet and remains a very solid late round WR gamble especially given Randall Cobb’s injury (although it looks like Green Bay dodged that catastrophe).
