High Priced Running Backs

Jeremy Hill-Cincinnati Bengals (8,600): Hill had a breakout second half last year and finished with games of 154 yards, 152 yards, 148 yards, 147 yards, and 100 yards in his last ten games.  He found the end zone six times over that span and clearly emerged as the top early down back for the Bengals. While he hasn’t gotten a lot of buzz leading up to opening week, Hill is in a great matchup against the Raiders on Sunday.  While the Raiders should be improved this year, I still think running backs will enjoy playing Oakland, and Jeremy Hill should be set up for a monster week to start the season.

DeMarco Murray-Philadelphia Eagles (8,500): Murray is also in a good matchup as the Eagles look to light up the Falcons on Monday Night Football.  Eagles running backs in Chip Kelly’s system can be a little bit volatile, but look for the Eagles offense to put on a show against the suspect Atlanta defense in the Georgia Dome on Monday. Murray replacing LeSean McCoy is one of Kelly’s highest profile moves, so expect him to showcase his new feature-back on Monday night.

Mark Ingram-New Orleans Saints (7,800): Even though Ingram isn’t in a great matchup as the Saints face a tough Cardinals’ defense, he’s a good play this week since he’s sure to carry a ton of the work in the New Orleans backfield with C.J. Spiller out for the game.  Ingram has been working more in the passing game this preseason, and he’ll get to show his three-down potential this week against the Cardinals. He was a popular goal line option for the Saints last season, so expect him to get all the early-down work and play a huge volume of snaps this week. When the Saints travel, they tend to rely on their running game more than they do at home, so look for Ingram to get plenty of action on Sunday in Phoenix.
