Chris Johnson-Arizona Cardinals (33.8%)

If you need immediate help at the running back position, the only RB who is widely available who will likely get the majority of his team’s carries in week 2 is Chris Johnson of the Arizona Cardinals. Johnson is expected to take over most of the workload in the Arizona running game with Andre Ellington dealing with a PCL injury.  Ellington may not be out for more than a week, but he’s almost sure to miss week 2 when the Cardinals face the Bears.

Chris Johnson  got most of the work in week 1 when Ellington left injured taking ten carries for 37 yards.  He was also targeted once in the passing game but failed to make the catch.  The catch out of the backfield that got everyone buzzing was to rookie rusher David Johnson who is also  a solid pickup but is listed later on this list due to his value still being a ways away.

Cardinals’ head coach Bruce Arians has been very clear in his hesitance to give the rookie David Johnson the majority of the work on Sunday, so look for the more experienced Chris Johnson to get the immediate value-bump in the wake of Ellington’s injury.  Johnson may be just a one-week solution if Ellington returns quickly, but I see him as a definitely flex play and a solid RB3 against a Bears defense that struggled to stop Eddie Lacy of the Packers in week 1.
