It was a fascinating week 1 in the NFL with some teams looking much better than advertised, others providing what we expected, and others who suffered a big letdown.  If your fantasy team comes into week 2 in need of some backfield help, check out these top 8 waiver wire running backs for the week.

More from Arizona Cardinals

All running backs listed in this post are owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues as of Wednesday morning and may be available in your league.  Depending on how deep your league is, you may need to scroll through to the end of the slideshow to find some options who are still out there in your league.  I tried to spread my pickup recommendations out, so that unless you’re in a league where everyone is owned, there should be someone on this list on the waiver wire in your league.

Make sure as you make your waiver wire claims that you avoid the trap of overreaction.  You definitely don’t want to dump an established option after just one bad week, but that doesn’t mean you should react at all.  If you drafted someone who is injured or didn’t deliver on the upside you were hoping they would, you can move on to add one of these backs.

If you are in need of a waiver wire pickup at another position, check out my top ten waiver wire targets for week 2.  There is also expanded coverage of each position available on our fantasy football hub.  If you still can’t find what you are looking for or you need some lineup advice, you can always find me on Twitter @FansidedFantasy.

On the following slides, I’ve listed the widely available running backs in the general order I would pick them up, but each league’s scoring and roster structure can vary, so make sure you know your team’s needs and your league’s rules.  Feel free to drop any question you have about your specific roster in the comments below or reach out on Twitter.
