No. 10 Kyle Kendrick

Greatness was not expected of Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick when he signed with the team this offseason. He had posted an ERA above 4.50 in each of his past two seasons.

He was expected to at least be serviceable, though, something that has not happened this season.

Kendrick has struggled tremendously during his first year in Colorado. His 6.15 ERA is the worst among MLB starting pitchers with at least 100 innings pitched. He is currently giving up an average of 10.9 hits per nine innings, over a hit more than his career average, and his 4.9 strikeouts per nine innings ranks among the worst in baseball.

Kendrick has only pitched six or more innings on nine occasions this year, while lasting five or less innings 11 times. This inability to go deep in games has placed a tremendous burden on the Rockies bullpen.

Another issue has been his durability, as he missed the entire month of August with shoulder inflammation. He has looked better in his two games since returning to the starting rotation, however, giving up a total of four runs over the course of nine innings.

If it is any consolation, Kendrick hit his first career home run on September 7th against the San Diego Padres, though that will not help him when he hits the free agent market this offseason.
