High Priced Running Backs

Matt Forte (7,100): Forte was all the offense had in a tough road matchup against the Seahawks last week.  This week, Chicago is hopeful that Alshon Jeffery will be back on the field to at least give the Raiders defense another playmaker to pay attention to. Forte didn’t get into the end zone against the Seahawks, but he should find more room against the Raiders who have been improving on offense but still allowing points on the defensive side of things.  Last week against the Browns was the first time the Raiders haven’t allowed a rushing touchdown, and I expect Forte to put together a nice game this week since he’ll be the focus of the offense once again with Jay Cutler sidelined.

Eddie Lacy (6,900): Lacy had a lighter workload on Monday Night Football with just 13 touches, but he still finished with 87 total yards on three catches and ten rushes. He was back to a full practice on Wednesday and should be ready to resume his workhorse role this week against a 49ers defense that has allowed the fifth-most points to opposing RB’s this season even with their good week 1 performance.  Lacy and the Pack should pile on the points by the bay, so look for him to be one of the better expensive options.

Latavius Murray (6,300): Murray is emerging as a top ten back this season, and carried the load for the Raiders in their win last week over the Browns.  Since Oakland was playing from ahead, Murray carried the ball 26 times against Cleveland rushing for 139 yards and a touchdown. He added ten yards on his one catch out of the backfield, but he has shown in earlier games this season that he can be involved as a receiver when he needs to be.  The Bears gave up over 100 yards to Thomas Rawls last week in Seattle, so Murray should be lined up for another good game as he and the Raiders visit Soldier Field.

Mark Ingram (6,000): Whether Drew Brees is under center on Sunday Night Football or not, the Saints will try to attack the Cowboys on the ground which should lead to a busy night for Ingram. Last week, Devonta Freeman went off against Dallas’s run defense, so look for Ingram to find some room to produce this week.  He has been putting up solid numbers as the lead back for New Orleans this season and has become increasingly involved in the passing game.  Last week he ran for 50 yards and a touchdown and added 49 yards receiving on five catches.  He has posted over 20 DraftKings points in two of his three games this season, and I think he’s a nice mid-level option this week with plenty of upside at home against the Cowboys.

Week 3 Picks: Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy, Latavius Murray, Joseph Randle
