MLB Playoffs 2015: 5 Rookies Who Could Make A Difference
By Jason Evans
P- Roberto Osuna
Playoff baseball is returning to Canada for the first time since Informer and Whoop There it is were on top of the music charts. ( A Icky Boom Boom Down). The Toronto Blue Jays made the playoffs for the first time since 1993, and although they emptied out a chunk of their farm system to get guys like Troy Tulowitzki and David Price to make it possible, the farm system produced guys on the major league roster that played a big role.
The series between the Blue Jays and Texas Rangers may come down to who’s bullpen can lock things down with the game on the line. The Blue Jays had a bit of a revolving door at closer until they settled on rookie Robert Osuna to be the guy at the end of the game.
Osuna was a starter in the minors, but the Jays decided to use that young power arm in the bullpen. He finished the season 1-6 with a 2.58 ERA and 20 saves. He struck out 75 in 68.2 innings. One of the reasons that the Jays got to the top of the AL East is because of Osuna. In August, he had 10 saves with a 0.79 ERA.
Osuna didn’t finish off the season well though. He went 0-2 with an ERA of 6.00 over the final month plus the first few days of October. If Osuna can lock down those last three outs, the Jays are going to be in good shape. If not, the Jays stay in the postseason may be a quick one.
