OLB. Georgia. Leonard Floyd. 9. player. 59. We’ve seen some great Georgia linebackers throughout the years, especially under Mark Richt, and Leonard Floyd definitely has a spot near the top of that list.

The 6-4, 231-pound linebacker has torn through the SEC for the better part of the last three seasons. During his time in Athens, he’s totaled 143 tackles with 22 of them going for loss and 14.5 sacks. Those last two numbers show something that you crave from an outside linebacker, that being the ability to get into the backfield and blow things up before they even get started.

As far as the Dolphins go, this is a huge need for them. They have a hard time stopping anyone right now, but if Floyd can translate those skills of his to the next level, he can help get this team back on the right track. Yes, the offense has their own issues at the moment in South Beach, but defense is where they need to concentrate. They need someone that could potentially turn into the quarterback and leader on that side of the ball and Floyd has the ability and potential to become that for this organization.

Dolphins fan right now should be salivating at the thought of Floyd getting into the backfield on Tom Brady.
