NFL: Buying or selling the undefeated teams
As a Cincinnati Bengals fan, I’m obligated to proceed with caution. This isn’t the first time the media has crowned the Bengals as Super Bowl contenders based on their roster alone.
2015 is, however, the first time that Andy Dalton has looked like a true franchise quarterback.
The Bengals are a complete team with strong play in virtually every phase of the game. Special teams is a bit of an issue, but offensively and defensively, the Bengals are good enough to compete with any team in the NFL.
That much was proven when Cincinnati stormed back to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 27-24 in overtime.
Unfortunately, Dalton is 0-4 in the playoffs and Marvin Lewis is 0-6. Until that changes, there will be skeptics, and it’ll be impossible to logically dispute their claims of postseason incompetency.
Call me optimistic, if you must, but the win over Seattle is enough to overcome that stigma and place Cincinnati in the, “Buy,” category.
