5. Philadelphia Eagles

I’d be remiss to say that the Philadelphia Eagles haven’t looked more impressive in recent weeks than they did right out of the gate. Even if Sam Bradford is still throwing ducks that are easily picked off from time to time, DeMarco Murray is finally starting to come alive, as is his backfield mate in Ryan Matthews as a part of the passing game.

As the Eagles are at home for a Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Giants, Philadelphia is favored by four points. Other than the fact that they’re playing on their home field, though, I’m not 100 percent sure why that’s the case. This truly feels like a matchup that could swing either way.

Even if the Eagles offense stays clicking like it has recently against a Giants defense that has been inconsistent at best, the Philly defense hasn’t exactly been the picture of consistency either. Seeing how well Eli Manning the Giants have been playing as of late, that gives this game the possibility of devolving into a shootout. As I’ve said many times before, that means it could be anyone’s game.

What really tips it over the edge in terms of putting Philadelphia on upset alert is that it’s a great deal easier to have faith in Manning running an offense than it is Bradford. Eli has quietly been putting together an impressive start to this season while Bradford has not so quietly struggled. If it does indeed come down to a shootout, give me the team that has Manning.
