Kansas City Chiefs (+4) over Minnesota Vikings

The Jamaal Charles injury is brutal, but I can’t understand why Kansas City is getting more than a field goal in this spot.

That doesn’t seem like enough of a reason to take the Chiefs, at least in the minds of some, but we’re looking for value in this space and it comes on Kansas City. More than anything, I don’t believe in Minnesota as an entity that should be laying this type of number against a competent opponent, and the Chiefs likely have a “win this one for Jamaal” feel going this week. I would understand if you wanted to stay away from Alex Smith on the road, but I’m rolling with the underdog here.

Seattle Seahawks (-7) over Carolina Panthers

Let’s get weird with a big favorite, and for help as to why, we turn to David Solar of ESPN Chalk:

"I also had the opportunity to speak with Michael Grodsky from the William Hill sportsbook, who informed me that 68 percent of their tickets have taken Carolina, but they had actually taken more money on Seattle. Essentially, squares are taking the Panthers and sharps are taking the Seahawks, making this the quintessential “Pros vs. Joes” game."

Sounds like something we would be interested in, right?

It isn’t often that a 2-3 team is giving a full touchdown to an undefeated opponent, but I continue to believe that Seattle is significantly better than Carolina, and the Seahawks hold arguably the best homefield advantage in football. The line is rising despite public action on the Panthers, and we love that. Lay the big number with the Seahawks in a must-win spot.
