4. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers come into Week 7 off of a huge win over the Arizona Cardinals despite the continuation of their injury woes. With Ben Roethlisberger still recovering from his sprained MCL, Mike Vick was already the starter at quarterback until he too suffered an injury against the Cardinals. That brought in the largely inexperienced Landry Jones to man the ship for the Steelers.

Shockingly enough, Jones was fantastic and helped his team earn a huge upset victory. He went 8-12 for 168 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in relief of Vick. Now there’s a good chance that Jones will again be the starter for Pittsburgh in Week 7. Vick is definitely going to miss this week and it’s unclear whether Big Ben will be healthy enough to lace up on Sunday afternoon.

Despite what Jones showed last week and a matchup against a Kansas City Chiefs secondary that has basically been a mirage for receivers to run past this season, I have pause about the Steelers’ picking up the win this week. I understand that Jones looked good, but he has such a short track record of doing anything at the professional level that it’s hard to tell if that was an aberration or what we should expect from him. Essentially, you just can’t trust him at this point, even against a team and defense that has been disappointing.

There is still that chance that Roethlisberger will start this game, but even if he does that doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence in Pittsburgh. The team wouldn’t throw him out there if they didn’t think he was healthy, but it’s hard to have confidence in a quarterback whose status has been so up in the air leading up to the game even if he does play. It’s just a sketchy situation at quarterback in Pittsburgh and that has me thinking that the Chiefs could sneak out a win here.
