3. Indianapolis Colts

I don’t mean to pile on the Indianapolis Colts after a week where they were dominated by more than the final score shows against the Pats in a game where they ran quite possibly the most perplexingly stupid play in the history of football. However, it just seems like they have a solid chance to dip below .500 with a loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The Colts have a better record than New Orleans and are favored in the matchup, but I’m not sure I buy either of those things. For one, the Saints offense actually looked like the Saints offense that we expect last week against the Falcons and the Colts aren’t exactly a defense that’s equipped to do anything about slowing that kind of attack down.

More importantly, the Saints defense looked very unlike the Saints defense that we’ve come to expect last week. They were stifling against a Falcons offense that has been one of the best units in the league this season. With the Colts offense remaining inconsistent, New Orleans’ defense playing at that level isn’t a positive thing. Even if the Saints defense is back to poor form, this game would still have the makings of a shootout, which we all know by now means that anyone could come away with a win.

Things could easily play out in a way where a win is simply up for grabs in this game with both teams having a good chance of getting the victory. Keeping that in mind and looking at the momentum of each team coming out of Week 6, things are definitely leaning in favor of the Saints on the road.
