DeAngelo Williams-RB-Pittsburgh Steelers (27.2%)

The top option that everyone will be after on the fantasy football waiver wire this week is an obvious one.  The big news in the NFL this week was the season-ending injury to Le’Veon Bell which has opened the door for DeAngelo Williams to step back in as the lead back in Pittsburgh and makes him an instant top-15 running back with the potential to be a top-ten or even a top-five play the rest of the way.

Williams was extremely successful for Pittsburgh while filling in while Bell was suspended in the first two weeks of the season.  He ran for 127 yards in the season opener in New England and added 77 the next week against the 49ers while running for three touchdowns.  He didn’t play much at all behind Bell while the Steelers’ star was active, but when he went down Sunday Williams stepped right in and ran for 71 yards on just nine carries against the Bengals while adding 39 more yards on four catches.

With Bell officially on IR, Williams has the starting job and will get a full workload for Pittsburgh the rest of the way.  Will Johnson may steal some goal line work, but the Steelers have demonstrated that they won’t hesitate to ride Williams hard even though its his tenth season in the league.

This week, the Steelers host Oakland in a good matchup for Williams and in week 10 it’s an even better matchup against the Browns. Whether you had Bell or not, you can’t pass up a chance to get a feature back in a good offense off the fantasy football waiver wire, so get your claims in on Williams if he was dropped earlier this season.
