Fantasy football week 8 was the best of times if you owned Drew Brees or Eli Manning, but it was the worst of times if you owned one or more of the many players who missed some or all of their game with injuries. There were a bunch of fantasy significant injuries which changed player values across the league. To recover from injuries your team suffered or take advantage of injuries to other players, check out the fantasy football waiver wire where there are some great pickups available who have golden opportunities.

More from Baltimore Ravens

There are almost always some good options on the waiver wire if you know where to look, but this week there seems to be even more players whose role is dramatically changing as he head into the second half of the regular season. On top of all that, week 9 is a biggest bye week of the season with six teams taking the week off. If you rely weekly on the Cardinals, Ravens, Lions, Texans, Chiefs, or Seahawks, you’ll need to hit the fantasy football waiver wire to replace those options and find some short-term fill-ins.

To help you find the top pickups, each Tuesday on Fansided I list my top 10 fantasy football waiver wire targets.  Before diving in to this week’s top ten, let me remind you of a couple guidelines. First, I only highlight players who are available in over 50% of ESPN leagues (ownership percentages as of Monday night included in parentheses). Players like Darren McFadden, Stefon Diggs, Jordan Reed, and Charcandrick West have been featured in this space before, but they may be available in your league and make good pickups. However, I can’t include them in this post since they are too owned at this point in the season.

A second quick reminder, each week I highlight at least one quarterback, one running back, one wide receiver, one tight end, and one team defense.  To see deep league pickups or “honorable mentions” for my top ten, scroll to the final slide of this post. Last week’s picks  fared pretty well overall including Diggs, McFadden, and David Carr who all had very nice numbers in week 8.

If you’re not sure which move to make, you can always ask me specifically on Twitter @FansidedFantasy where I do my best to answer as many questions as I can.  You can also find more coverage, rankings, sleepers, and previews throughout the rest of the week on our Fantasy Football hub.

This week, the fantasy football waiver wire has lots of options including some long-term solutions as well as a few quick-fix options to get you through the bye week.  Check out my top ten pickups to target on the following slides.
