5. New York Giants

Eli Manning arguably had the game of his life against the New Orleans Saints last week. The veteran New York Giants quarterback threw for 350 yards, six touchdowns, and no interceptions on the afternoon and was just dominant in the passing game. It was a master class performance from a quarterback who has played at that level on a number of occasions. The only problem is that the Giants still lost in a game where they scored 49 points and Manning was infallible.

Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 9, I don’t expect Manning and the Giants having a hard time moving the ball down the field. The Buccaneers defense against the pass and the run has been mediocre and inconsistent at best for most of the season, which with how the New York offense performed last week lends itself to the belief that the Giants should be able to put a big number on the scoreboard for the second week in a row.

The problem is that the Giants simply can’t stop anyone right now. While Jameis Winston and Tampa Bay isn’t the same as Drew Brees, this is the same Giants defense that let a Matt Cassel led Dallas Cowboys team put 20 points on the board just two weeks ago. With Doug Martin really coming alive in the Bucs’ rushing attack, with Winston settling his own, and with big targets in the receiving game like Austin Seferian-Jenkins possibly returning to action this week, I think the Bucs have the chance to pull off upsets in back-to-back weeks.
