Put these five NFL teams on upset alert for Week 9

The Green Bay Packers and the Denver Broncos faced off last week in a battle of undefeated teams in what looked like a matchup that would be memorable at the very least. What transpired was the Packers getting absolutely dominated by the Broncos defense for most of the game, Peyton Manning showing signs of new life, and the Packers coming into Week 9 of the 2015 NFL season no longer among the unbeaten teams in the league.

You could argue that the pressure of being undefeated is now off of the collective back of the Packers after last week’s loss, but things don’t let up for Green Bay in Week 9 as they’ll be on the road against yet another unbeaten team in the Carolina Panthers. When you’re as good as the Packers have been for quite a while now, the schedule never lets up.

It’s impossible to deny the fact that this matchup between the Packers and Panthers is going to be the game of the week for Week 9’s slate of action. Green Bay will once again be matched up with an opponent that has been stellar defensively again and that is inconsistent on the other side of the ball. The Packers, however, will be looking for a different result than in the first matchup against that kind of team.

However, it’s impossible to put either Green Bay or Carolina on upset alert for Week 9. For one, this is a game where either team winning is 100 percent a possibility. In that type of close matchup on paper, it’s hard to call for an upset at all. It’s even harder to pick a team to be upset when the undefeated home team is the underdog for the game.

All that is to say that the Packers and the Panthers have the potential to give us as the fans the best game of the week in Week 9, but that there won’t be any upset in that matchup. Instead, you have to look elsewhere around the NFL for teams that could potentially be upset. Even with six teams on bye in Week 9 and the Panthers-Packers game being out of the mix, there are still several quality candidates in regards to potential upsets.

As always, an upset can be an underdog in terms of the odds winning, a team with a worse record than their opponent winning, or something of that sort. These are the five NFL teams on upset alert in Week 9.
