Last week when the initial rankings were released for this season, there were some folks that were a little irked by the fact that Notre Dame was the No. 5 team in the nation. However, the fact of the matter is that the Irish’s lone loss this season has come to the team that was ranked No. 1, and the game was extremely close, especially at the end.

This past weekend Notre Dame kept its amazing season going as they were able to easily handle Pitt on the road, 42-30. Once again, this looked like a very polished Irish team that is ready to make a run at the National Championship, despite all of the injury setbacks that they’ve suffered along the way.

Brian Kelly and the players on the team deserve a lot of credit for what they’ve accomplished this year. This Tuesday that respect will be shown once again as they keep their No. 5 spot, but if they take care of business the rest of the way, they will earn themselves a spot on New Year’s Eve.

All this team really has to do from here on out is keep their winning ways going. With what they have coming up down the stretch here in 2015, they will certainly earn the spot in the College Football Playoff if they can indeed get there.
