Kendall Gaskins-San Francisco 49ers

Speaking of new roles and injuries, the 49ers have gone through almost every running back on their roster in the last few weeks leaving Kendall Gaskins in his rookie year out of Richmond as the last option standing.

Gaskins was way down on the depth chart entering the season but with Carlos Hyde out, Reggie Bush done for the season, and even Mike Davis on IR, he’s the last running back the 49ers had.  To help Gaskins carry the load, San Francisco brought in Pierre Thomas and Shaun Draughn but neither are up to speed on the offense and Thomas admitted he isn’t in game shape yet.

Gaskins was far from impressive last week rushing for just six yards on his five carries and adding 17 yards on two catches.  However, if you want to lock in a starter at a ridiculously low price (DraftKings-3,000, FanDuel-4,800), Gaskins is the cheapest starting option in the NFL for week 9.

Gaskins will be joined in the backfield by a new QB as Blaine Gabbert takes over for Colin Kaepernick.  With a new QB and their fourth RB leading a three-man committee, there’s no way to know what to expect from the 49ers this week.  The Falcons have struggled against the run, though, so there is some upside to rolling the dice on Gaskins.
