James Starks-RB-Green Bay Packers (40.2%)

Eddie Lacy is hurt… again. He’s making me and the rest of his owners regret taking him in the first round… again. Lacy suffered a groin injury against the Panthers, but he was able to go through a full workout on Monday.  Even if he’s healthy, though, Lacy hasn’t been the answer for the Packers, and he isn’t startable despite the offensive coordinator saying they “definitely need” to get him going.  I wouldn’t drop Lacy yet if possible, but it’s definitely time to invest in Lacy’s backfield backup James Starks.  Starks has clearly moved ahead of Lacy at least in the short term and is a solid RB2 going forward.

Last week, Starks adjust rushed ten times for 39 yards, but his main contribution came through the air as he caught six passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.  He failed to get anything going in Denver as the entire Green Bay offense struggled, but before the bye week he had a big game against the Chargers running for 112 yards and a touchdown and catching a second touchdown.

While the Packers haven’t looked good the last two weeks, they’ll look to right the ship as they start a run through the NFC North.  They’ll play the Lions at Lambeau this week before visiting Minnesota and coming home for Chicago.  If Starks can seize his opportunity to get most of the work in a very effective Packers-attack, he’ll be a key piece for any owner coming down the stretch.  He should be the top claim from the waiver wire week 10 in almost every format.
