20. Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium (Oklahoma)

Oklahoma’s Memorial Stadium might not be the top destination for college football fans looking to check out a game in the south, but the Sooners do have a nice home-field advantage that ranks among the best in the Big 12.

The capacity of the stadium stands at about 82,100 after the most recent renovations and future plans could have this 92-year-old field looking even nicer with a much better fan experience in the coming seasons.

Oklahoma has one of the best winning traditions in college football history, winning seven national titles since 1950 and just always being a competitive team, year after year without fail.

Up until the year 2000, the stadium hadn’t experienced a single renovation or upgrade in 25 years, then the Sooners won the national title and a boost in interest to attend the school helped pay for some modernization.

Over $50 million was put into an early 2000s renovation that improved restrooms, concessions and seating while also adding new video and score boards to the entire stadium. The fan experience is getting better by the year, and it will continue to improve as there are plans in place to improve training facilities, press boxes, bathrooms, concessions and add about 2,000 new seats for fans.

Don’t forget to look for the Sooner Schooner which is pulled by two white ponies before games and acts as the mascot. Pretty cool site to see an old-time schooner on a modern day football field.
