21. Lane Stadium (Virginia Tech)

According to Rivals.com’s David Lavender in 2005, Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium had the No. 1 home-field advantage in all of college football. Lavender had this to say about the immense noise emitted from the crowd:

"“Every good stadium has at least one end designed for deafening noise levels, and the enclosed South End Zone at Lane Stadium fits the bill perfectly. Holding more than 11,000 screaming Virginia Tech fans, the section amplifies noise and renders audibles useless. That’s not to mention the isolation factor. With the nearest major airport nearly 45 minutes away, opponents’ fans are never out in force at Lane Stadium.”"

ESPN also named Lane Stadium the No. 2 “scariest place to play” in 2007 as Bruce Feldman claimed that this was the loudest place he had ever seen a college football game.

You can actually feel the crowd getting hyped up when Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” is played while the team is about to run onto the field as well as the famous cannon, nicknamed “Skipper”, that is fired before the game and again after every score.

Before running onto the field, the players reach up to touch the Hokie Stone, similar to the way Notre Dame slaps the “Play Like Champions Today” sign while leaving the locker room.

Visit Lane Stadium and expect to get a few goosebumps.
