Twitter reacts to the Philadelphia 76ers’ record-breaking loss, dropping their record to 0-17 and have lost 27 straight dating back to last season.

The Philadelphia 76ers lost 116-114 to the Houston Rockets, setting a record in the process. The Sixers are now 0-17 to start the season. The last NBA team to start a season that poorly was… the Sixers. Last year. The loss makes it their 27th straight loss dating back to last season, which is the longest streak in U.S. professional sports history.

The longest losing streaks in the other major North American leagues are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (26 straight from 1976-77), the Baltimore Orioles (21 straight in 1988), and the Washington Capitals (17 straight from 1974-75).

Of course, the “Bearded One” James Harden’s effort was a big reason for the Rockets’ win, as noted by ESPN.

Of course, the Internet noticed this and took time out of its day to kick the Sixers while they’re down:

"On the bright side, the Sixers setting records"

One of the bright spots of the Sixers, Jahlil Okafor, has been visibly frustrated by the lack of support and the fact that they’re still winless. After losing to the Celtics on Wednesday, Okafor got into a street fight in Boston with a fan. Duke fans have also created a PSA to save Okafor from staying on a team that has an inherently losing culture which could stunt his development into a legitimate NBA superstar.

The Sixers have a very good chance to collect their first win with a game against the Lakers looming on Tuesday. Regardless, this has been a season of futility for the 76ers, and it’s tough to envision when their rebuild will finally come to an end.
