Round 1: DE Shilique Calhoun

It’s no secret that the Arizona Cardinals struggle to get pressure on the quarterback. Despite having a top defense, the Cardinals have not had a player that can consistently get after the quarterback every play. They have some intriguing young players in Alex Okafor and Markus Golden that could soon morph into that role, but adding a top flight pass rusher in the draft is a must for the Cardinals, if they’re going to continue to remain a top defense in the NFL.

Michigan State defensive end Shilique Calhoun is one of those pass rusher options that could be available late when the Cardinals have their first-round pick.

At 6’4 and 255 pounds, Calhoun will be an edge rusher probably at the outside linebacker position in the NFL. His skill is getting after the quarterback and he’s exactly what the Cardinals need with their first round pick. If they could pair him in a rotation with Okafor and Golden, the Cardinals would easily have one of the most exciting pass-rushing trios in the league. The Cardinals just missed out on a few top pass rushers by a few picks in the first round last year, and they certainly won’t want to miss this year.
