5. Rex Ryan coaches with fire, and it rubs off on his players.

Rex Ryan is a coach who is really excited to be in Buffalo. Is Ryan one of the most irrational coaches in the NFL? His interviews and times with the media show that yes, probably, he is. But there are some positives with him.

For one, Ryan is always exuding positivity with the team, even if it is irrational. He’s always expressing confidence in his players, even when the most diehard fans are seeming down about the team’s future.  He’s also charismatic, and has fun with the media, coming out and wearing a Clemson helmet for one of his press conferences this season.

What Rex is thinking is never clear to fans, but he’s saying the right things, and what he was expected to say, telling Syracuse.com, “Now I am not admitting defeat by any stretch of the imagination that we have some opportunity.”

Even if Rex doesn’t actually believe this it may rub off on his players. It sounds cheesy, but if they believe they can win out the rest of the season, they can.

Unfortunately, Ryan hasn’t done all that great at this point of the year, even when he has made the playoffs. Ryan has an all-time record of 52-58, and has pushed his teams to two playoff appearances s. In 2009, the New York Jets made the playoffs, and went 4-1 after December. The year following, even though the team went 11-5 overall, they went 2-3.

Sadly for them, winning out may be the only way they get into the playoffs. But luckily, the schedule sits in favor of them.
