4th Round – #118 overall

Kris Frost is one of the better athletes in college football, and with some seasoning could be a really nice inside linebacker one day in the National Football League. For the time being, Frost is probably a guy who can fit in special teams and make the most impact on coverage units. For the Chiefs, this would be a nice outcome since they have a logjam of players at the position.

Kansas City has one of the best in the business at the inside linebacker position with Derrick Johnson. Johnson looked to be going into the twilight of his career after tearing his Achilles tendon in Week 1 of last season, but he has returned at the age of 33 to be a tremendous player. Johnson has 100 tackles on the season and will likely make the Pro Bowl.

Behind Johnson are a stable of young players in Josh Mauga, Justin March, Ramik Wilson and D.J. Alexander. So, if the depth chart is so loaded, why would Kansas City take an inside linebacker in the first round? Well, guys get hurt and Johnson might be gone after this season, playing in the last year of his current deal. Wilson looks promising, as does March, but Frost could definitely come in and compete.
