5 NFL Players who need to be traded before next season

QB-Drew Brees
The New Orleans Saints run with Drew Brees at quarterback and Sean Payton as their head coach may be coming to an end after this season. There have been rumors all season long about this being the last season for Payton as the head man. They’ve only made the playoffs once since 2012. Their defense is a mess and they are going to have cap issues.
There are already rumblings that Drew Brees would have to take a discount in order to remain with the Saints after this season. Brees is going to have a whopping $30 million cap hit for next season after his restructuring of his contract before this season. The Saints are already over the salary cap for next season and are going to have to make some changes.
Brees is getting older, and it may be a while before the Saints can go back to that Super Bowl level like they were in the past.
For the Saints, if Payton leaves, it could help them have a totally clean slate and start new and potentially younger at quarterback by trading Brees. Maybe a team like the Houston Texans or another team that thinks they are a veteran presence away at quarterback from being a contender.
Paying $30 million to Brees just doesn’t make sense. It’s not a good allocation of cap space, especially when the team has so many holes to fix. The ride is over and it may make some sense in New Orleans to rebuild and that won’t happen if Brees is still at QB.
