Round 3: Braxton Miller, WR (Ohio State)

There’s obvious need with the Patriots to add depth at the wide receiver position considering how all of the injuries there this season have depleted their offense. However, what’s a bit overlooked about the Patriots is the fact that, even before the injuries, they were still somewhat lacking in terms of a dynamic, big-play type of wide receiver. They’ll have a chance to grab that type of player in Ohio State Buckeyes star Braxton Miller.

To get it out of the way, the obvious drawback when it comes to Miller is that he played only one season in Columbus at wide receiver after switching positions from quarterback. That being said, he performed quite well in that one season as he continued to pick up the nuances of the position that he’d never played before.

In terms of his NFL skills, Miller’s speed, agility, quickness, and even hands are world-class. He showed some of those things at quarterback, but has only continued to put them on display as a receiver for the Buckeyes. Moreover, what better system for him to further his development as a receiver than under Bill Belichick with Tom Brady throwing him the football? This seems like a perfect fit that could benefit both parties tremendously.
