High Salary Goalies

Braden Holtby – Washington Capitals ($10,600): Braden Holtby has been outstanding for the Washington Capitals so far this season. He leads the NHL in wins and goals-against average. He is also among the league leaders in save percentage. The Caps have allowed the fewest goals in the NHL. They go against a Sabres team that has scored the sixth-least goals so far this season. Holtby might be an expensive option for your fantasy hockey team, but he’s likely your best one tonight. He averages 5.7 fantasy hockey points per game.

Henrik Lundqvist – New York Rangers ($9,500): Lundqvist has arguably been the best goalie in the NHL so far this season, especially when you consider how bad the Rangers have been defensively in the month of December. The Nashville Predators aren’t known for their scoring, as they are ranked 20th in the league in goals scored this season. The holiday break might have been just what the Rangers needed. We’ll have to see. He averages 5.2 fantasy hockey points per game.

High Value Goalies

Mike Condon – Montreal Canadiens ($7,400): If you want to take a pretty big risk that could potentially save you some money for better forwards and defensemen, Condon is your man. The Canadiens have only won one game out of their last ten. It has to stop at some point and tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning is about as good of a time as any. The Lightning are ranked 19th in goals scored this season. He averages three fantasy points per game.

Petr Mrazek/Jimmy Howard – Detroit Red Wings ($8,700/$7,900): It’s always hard to predict which one of the two Red Wings goalies will start on any given night. Regardless of who starts, I like their matchup against the Minnesota Wild tonight. The Wild have had trouble scoring goals this season. They rank 18th in goals scored and the Red Wings are playing good hockey as of late. Mrazek averages 4.8 fantasy hockey points per game while Howard averages 4.2 fantasy hockey points per game.
