FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy hockey lineup December 28
High Salary D
John Carlson – Washington Capitals ($6,500): John Carlson is one of those defensemen who fantasy hockey players love. He always finds ways to give you points even if he’s not scoring because he shoots the puck a lot. He has at least one point in seven of his last eight outings. His Caps are going against an inferior Sabres team tonight, which makes him an attractive fantasy hockey option. He averages 3.2 fantasy hockey points per game.
Drew Doughty – Los Angeles Kings ($7,100): Drew Doughty is a great fantasy hockey option available for tonight’s slate of games. His Kings are playing the Vancouver Canucks, who are in the bottom ten in goals allowed with 102. Doughty is an extremely important part of the Kings offense. The Kings offense has struggled (24th in the league in goals scored), but they should have a strong night tonight. Doughty averages three fantasy hockey points per game.
Brent Burns – San Jose Sharks ($8,200): Brent Burns is your best fantasy hockey option available for tonight’s games. His Sharks take on the Colorado Avalanche. The Avalanche have allowed 99 goals in 36 games (22nd in the NHL). Tonight’s game figures to be a high scoring one and Burns will likely play a huge role in it. He averages four fantasy hockey points per game.
High Value D
Ryan Suter – Minnesota Wild ($4,700): Suter remains a great fantasy hockey value and is arguably the best value defenseman you can find on FanDuel. He logs lots of minutes and is an important part of the Wild’s defense. They go against the Red Wings tonight. He averages 2.8 fantasy hockey points per game.
Tyson Barrie – Colorado Avalanche ($5,200): Barrie has been quietly efficient so far for the Colorado Avalanche this season. He has three points in his last three games and the Avalanche are playing the Sharks in what should be a high-scoring match-up. Both teams have struggled defensively this season. Barrie averages 2.4 fantasy hockey points per game.
Jake Muzzin – Los Angeles Kings (5,100): Muzzin is the lesser known part of the Kings first defensive pairing. That’s understandable because his partner is consistent Norris Trophy contender Drew Doughty. Muzzin is very efficient and has 14 points this season. The Canucks have struggled defensively so Muzzin will likely get in on some scoring tonight. At worst, he should give you a positive plus-minus. He averages 2.3 fantasy points per game.
