The St. Louis Rams took a chance by trading former number one overall pick Sam Bradford and hoping Nick Foles would return to his 2013 form, when he threw 27 touchdowns and just two interceptions. That gamble has failed them and Foles is owed nearly nine million this year and over 13 million next year. Clearly signing Foles to that deal was not smart, but at least they got a second round pick for Bradford from Chip Kelly. Everyone has said this team is just a quarterback away, so that will be their focus in the first round this year.

With Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch long gone, the focus turns to Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook. While they do have Sean Mannion on the roster from 2015’s draft, the talent and expectations of these two quarterbacks are polar opposites. Mannion was a shot in the dark while Cook has the talent to lead a franchise for many years.

With a decent arm and some accuracy, Cook reminds me of Andy Dalton coming out of TCU. He may struggle learning the league for a year or two, but he will eventually find his footing and take over as this team’s franchise quarterback. Cook brings great value with the 18th overall pick and has a decent amount of potential in St. Louis with weapons like Todd Gurley and Tavon Austin.

Previous Pick: Connor Cook, QB
.
