5. Rob Chudzinski

If the Colts want to hire an internal candidate, then Rob Chudzinski is the answer. Chudzinski is in his first season as associate head coach, so he understands the many responsibilities that Chuck Pagano had as head coach. At the same time, he already understands the ins and outs of the Colts organization.

However, if the Colts ownership wants to clean house and start all over again, then hiring an internal candidate won’t happen. Chudzinski does have 21 years of overall coaching experience with 11 of those in the NFL.

If the Colts don’t want to go with Chudzinski as head coach, but want to hire internally, then Greg Manusky could be another option. Manusky is currently in his fourth year with the Colts, so hiring him would keep the transitional period not as harsh by allow some semblance of continuity within the coaching staff to occur.

It’s unlikely that either will be the top candidate for the Colts to hire, but the favorite person on the hiring board isn’t always hired by professional teams in favor of an internal candidate
