Back to where it all started, kind of. Sure, Garrett spent most of his playing career as a Dallas Cowboy, and was given his big shot at coaching by Jones in Big D. But his coaching career started in Miami as the quarterback coach under his protege, Nick Saban who was coaching Miami at the time.

Miami fired Joe Philbin earlier this season and while they may give a shot to interim coach, and fellow former Cowboy, Dan Campbell, there is nothing set in stone.

Garrett is 45-42 as a coach during his tenure in Dallas, which is not setting the world on fire, but it is a better record than many of the options available.

In Miami, Garrett would be able to work with the talented, but inconsistent Ryan Tannehill while also enjoying some potentially  big playmakers in DeVante Parker and Jarvis Landry at receiver.

Another player who fits what Garrett likes would be rookie running back, Jay Ajayi. Ajayi was often linked to Dallas during the draft, especially considering J.G.’s fondness for the Boise State program, where the running back starred.

He is a downhill runner that punishes players and could be featured in Garrett’s run-first approach to the game. Coupling a consistent running game with the playmaking ability of Landry could be highly enticing to Garrett. A coach with some experience and a fondness for physical football could be just what Miami needs as well.
