High Salary C

Hassan Whiteside-Miami Heat (7,400): Whiteside and Gortat are the two big-name centers on the board for tonight and they face off in the early game.  Whiteside is coming off a monster game against the Mavericks when celebrated the New Year by posting 25 points and 19 rebounds.  He finished that game with 50.25 fantasy points giving him four games with at least 43 fantasy points in his last seven contests.  When he and Gortat met earlier this season, Whiteside finished with 14 points, four boards, and three blocked shots in 23 minutes.

Marcin Gortat-Washington Wizards (7,000): On the other side of that early matchup, Gortat will be looking for his sixth double-double in his last seven games.  He has at least 30 fantasy points in eight straight games but has only three games over 40 fantasy points in his last ten.  Gortat is a little steadier than Whiteside, but he rarely shows the high-ceiling that Whiteside showed off against the Mavericks. He has scored in double-digits in ten straight contests, though, and had a double-double in his last meeting with Whiteside finishing with 10 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal.  Whiteside’s upside is undeniable, but I prefer the steady and prolific approach of the Polish Hammer tonight.
