Ryan Johansen ran into Seth Jones after being traded
By David Rouben
After the Blue Jackets and Predators pulled off a blockbuster deal, Ryan Johansen and Seth Jones ran into each other.
It’s safe to say that the Ryan Johansen for Seth Jones deal made last night was the biggest trade of the season so far. The Predators needed a solid first-line centre to compliment the star pairing of Shea Weber and Roman Josi. They were able to trade from strength and give the bottom-feeding Blue Jackets a stable defensive player for the future in Seth Jones.
Once it was all said and done, the two were off to their new clubs. But not before running into each other in the airport:
It was such a big deal that it even got SportsCenter to tweet about hockey for once!
Johansen was able to take the deal in stride by calling Jones his “good buddy.” He’s put up great numbers in his career so far, and was a highly sought-after center, so it was a bit of a surprise to see a smaller market team like the Predators pick him up.
Nonetheless, Nashville’s lack of centre depth is what cost them in the playoffs last year, so having a stable offensive presence in front of Shea Weber and Roman Josi could be what makes the Predators a genuine cup contender this year.
