4. Aggressive pass rush

The Broncos finished the season not only No. 1 in total sacks, but were also the only team to cross the 50 threshold (they finished with 52 exactly). While some of that number can be attributed to the aforementioned “No Fly Zone” forcing opposing quarterbacks to hold onto the ball longer than they should, a lot of credit still goes to one of the best pass rushes in the league.

It’s hard to find a better outside linebacker tandem than Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware. Since leaving the Cowboys, Ware has done everything the Broncos asked for and more, despite missing some time this season with a back injury. He finished with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and 7.5 sacks — good for second-most on the team and 26th in the league.

As good as Ware was, Miller was even better. The former Texas A&M standout forced four fumbles, recovered three, and finished with a team-high 11 sacks, which tied him for eighth in the NFL.

These two stalwarts, combined with rising star Malik Jackson at defensive end, should make life miserable for opposing quarterbacks throughout the playoffs.
