player. 86.
Kevin Martin would be a great addition to the Cavaliers. He’d give them yet another solid option off the bench. The Cavs could have the same three-headed beast at shooting guard as they do at point guard should they find a way to get Martin. J.R. Smith is inconsistent and if he gets cold, it tends to take him a while to heat back up. Shumpert could help replace him, but Martin would be a more consistent and reliable option.

Martin has taken a backseat role for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season by coming off the bench. He averages 23.8 minutes per game so he would be comfortable coming off the bench for the Cavs. He’s averaging 11.5 points per game with Minnesota.

The primary issue is that Cleveland doesn’t have too many trade options. They could offer a draft pick, but the Cavs don’t have that many to deal. Another issue is that Martin currently has a $7,085,000 cap hit for this season and a $7,377,500 cap hit for next season. The Cavs have a $10,500,000 trade exception that they received for Brendan Haywood so that’s definitely an option.

Martin would be a valuable piece for the Cavaliers off the bench and help them overcome any injuries to Smith or Shumpert.
. SF. Minnesota Timberwolves. Kevin Martin. 5
