Did Maisie Williams spill the beans about Jon Snow?
By Graeme Klayh
At the UK Critics’ Circle Awards earlier this week, The Upcoming had a lengthy interview with Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on Game of Thrones. Williams may have slipped her lips on the details of Jon Snow’s future.
As a general disclaimer to fans of Game of Thrones, this post will have minor *SPOILERS* as I will speculate on some recent unearthed details about the upcoming season.
As the world pines for the next instalment of our favorite show, Game of Thrones, we continue to offer theory after theory to satisfy our curiosity until the premiere on April 24th. During a recent interview, Maisie Williams revealed some details about Jon Snow’s future.
On the question of Jon Snow’s unfortunate betrayal at the end of Season 5, Williams talks about how fans expect to see him in Season 6. “It’s a great twist, but I can’t say he’s going to be alive,” she said, right before making the guilty face of someone who has just revealed too much.

Kit Harington, the actor who plays Jon Snow, has been rumored to be seen acting on the Season 6 set. The more he brushes off the allegations, the more it becomes clear that he is returning, but we don’t know in what form.
As season 5 wrapped up, the Red Woman, Melisandre, returns to The Wall with her endless supply of magic tricks. This happens right before Jon Snow is murdered by his fellow Night’s Watchmen. As we saw in Season 3, Beric Dondarrion had been resurrected by the Lord of Light, and he was brought back by someone less powerful than Melisandre. Also, he tells us that, “every time I come back, I’m a bit less.”
We already know this, but…
Maisie Williams referred to Snow as being ‘not alive’, and there are quite a few clues that point in the direction. Look back to Season 5 Episode 8, where Jon and the Night’s Watch battled the White Walkers at Hardhome. Near the end of the battle, all the fallen soldiers were resurrected to to join the White Walkers’ army of the dead.
Jon Snow + White Walkers = Direct relationship, close proximity, and close contact.
Could Jon Snow be affected by this type of resurrection? Then he truly would be undead. The other option is that Melisandre’s magic will bring him back alive, but “less” than he was before.
Did Williams hint that Jon Snow will become a member of the undead? Or was it just a wordy answer during an informal interview? Remembering that Jon Snow’s pet direwolf’s name is Ghost, the clues and possibilities continue to grow as we draw closer to the season premiere.
