NBA All-Star Game 2016: 5 biggest snubs
5. Kemba Walker – Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets in a vacuum probably shouldn’t be competing for a playoff spot in the East this season given all that they’ve been up against. The Hornets lost Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to injuries before the regular season ever began and have been without Al Jefferson for much of the season as well. Yet they are right on the outside of the postseason picture and, while Nicolas Batum has been a big part of that, Kemba Walker’s role in keeping them relevant is unavoidable.
Walker has played in all 46 games for the Hornets to this point in the season and has been enjoying the best year of his young career to this point. Playing 36 minutes per game, the 25-year-old guard has averaged 20.5 points, five assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor and a solid 36.4 percent from beyond the arc. His increased efficiency as a scorer has been wildly impressive and a big reason as to why Charlotte has stayed afloat.
Especially looking at a player like Wade being in the starting lineup for the East, Walker could conceivably be a better option to represent the conference. While there’s nothing to be done about the fan vote, it’s hard to say that Walker doesn’t deserve to be in the mix.
