Will Barton finishes incredible and-one vs Wizards (Video)
Will Barton got out on a fast break and wouldn’t be denied his lay-up, even while getting fouled hard
The Denver Nuggets have quietly been creeping up in the Western Conference and steadily improving as the 2015-16 season has worn on. One of the more underrated pieces of their rotation has been reserve guard Will Barton, who has been enjoying arguably his best season of his career. That includes making ridiculous finishes at the rim through contact on Thursday night against the Washington Wizards.
In the second quarter of the matchup against Washington, Barton got out on a fast break and, despite the fact that there were Wizards defenders there to protect the rim, he put his head down and got into the lane. He went up to finish the lay-up and got fouled relatively hard, but that didn’t stop him from adjusting and finishing for the and-one:
"What a play by Will Barton! https://t.co/w3u4SHcxNO— Bleacher Report NBA (@BR_NBA) January 29, 2016"
That’s what the Wizards get for wearing those atrocious uniforms, having opposing guards knock down fast break lay-ups despite getting demolished in the air.
Barton has truly been a revelation this season for the Nuggets, establishing himself as one of their most consistent offensive threats. As a guard with his size and athleticism, that’s not wholly surprising—but it is surprising considering the relative obscurity that he’s survived in for most of his young career.
If he keeps playing like he has and keeps finishing plays like this, though, relative obscurity is going to be in Barton’s rearview mirror for the rest of his career in the league.
