Brent Burns scored during the NHL All-Star skills competition while dressed as Chewbacca

San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns bears a striking resemblance to Chewbacca with his long hair and his gargantuan beard. Burns decided to encourage that stereotype during the Breakaway Challenge of the NHL All-Star skills competition by putting on a Chewbacca mask.

That’s pretty much what Burns looks like anyway, but that’s some excellent creativity by Burns. He knows everyone thinks he looks just like a Wookie and he decided to use that to his advantage to give the fans a show that they likely won’t be forgetting any time soon. This one did not win the Breakaway Challenge, but that was more due to the hilarious creativity of everyone else. The Breakaway Challenge featured numerous hilarious attempts.

Brent Burns has been a huge leader for the Sharks this season. He has 18 goals and 25 assists this season for 43 points. That’s extremely impressive from a defenseman. Burns is trying to be the first defenseman to get to 30 goals in a single season since Mike Green in 2008-2009. He leads the Sharks in ice time per game for skaters and also in shots on goal. He’s a huge part of their power play.
