5. New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans aren’t having the season that they had expected. After making the playoffs last season, the Pelicans thought they were going to take off this year and take that next step to becoming an elite contender.

Nothing close to that has happened, and it may have very well been a blessing in disguise for the Pelicans. The team has gotten a chance to take a step back and look at their roster and realize that maybe the pieces on the roster aren’t the best pieces to put around Anthony Davis.

That being said, the pieces are still good and have good trade value if they want to swing a deal. So why not go all in and go after Kevin Love? Pairing Love next to Davis would give the Pelicans a truly dynamic front court and Love wouldn’t have to worry about the pressures of playing next to LeBron James anymore.

With a dynamic force like Davis, the floor could open up for Love and he could shoot from three and move around to score from several positions on the court. The Pelicans could make a deal work offering a package of Ryan Anderson and Tyreke Evans, which would certainly intrigue Cleveland.

It’s probably unlikely that New Orleans would want to give up their draft pick after giving up two good players in Anderson and Evans, but perhaps they could make something work.
