Running Backs – Terrell Davis and Larry Csonka

Terrell Davis had a short career but he had a very memorable one because of his legendary Super Bowl performances. He rushed for 259 rushing yards and three touchdowns in his two lone appearances in the championship game. His performance against the Packers in 1998 was arguably the best ever from a running back. Terrell Davis ran for three touchdowns and 157 yards in that game. He ran for just under five yards per carry in the NFL title game in his career. The Broncos running back has a decent case to be enshrined in Canton all because of his great performances when it mattered the most.

Larry Csonka helped the Miami Dolphins raise the Lombardi Trophy twice in his career and had three Super Bowl appearances. Csonka’s 297 career rushing yards in the title game are second all-time to Franco Harris who appeared in four title games. In 1974, Csonka ran for 145 yards on 33 carries with two touchdowns to help the Dolphins beat the Vikings 24-7. Larry helped Miami cap off a perfect season by rushing for 112 yards on 15 carries against the Washington Redskins in 1972. Csonka is enshrined in Canton for having an impressive career that he capped off with two impressive performances on the biggest stage.
