The strength of the Los Angeles Rams is their defense. They are physical across the board at all areas and they punish opposing offenses weekly. One of the areas that started to show some promise for the Rams, was their secondary.

Their two cornerbacks, Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson, were both physical players that could line up against top wide receivers and cover them. They’re also both unrestricted free agents and with plenty of teams in need of cornerbacks, the two players are likely to get paid.

These two players, along with Mark Barron, should be the top priority for the Rams this offseason in terms of retaining players. With $50 million in cap space and the potential to create more, depending on other roster cuts, the Rams have the money to keep these guys.

Losing them would be disastrous to the secondary and the physical makeup of the back-end of their defense. The Rams pride themselves on physicality and having Jenkins and Johnson should be a priority.

Barron started out as a safety, but he’s so big and physical, that he has moved up like a linebacker and has really taken off at the position. He’s so versatile as a player, that the Rams would be wise to keep him as well.
