. NFC. West. Seattle Seahawks. 3. player. 36

While the Seattle Seahawks aren’t the first team one would think of that could look defensive talent on the free agent market, there might be some interest in the Seahawks acquiring former St. Louis Rams defensive end Chris Long this offseason.

Long played Seattle biannually in the NFC West and the Rams’ defense would often make life difficult for the Seahawks’ offensive game plan. With Seattle potentially losing some playmakers in their front seven like outside linebacker Bruce Irvin in free agency, might the Seahawks take advantage of a rival’s personnel decision in free agency and sign the former Ram Long?

By joining Seattle, Long would be able to likely contend for an NFC Playoffs spot right away, as the Seahawks are certainly one of the six best teams in the NFC entering 2016. While in St. Louis, Long was unable to play in the postseason, as the Rams organization have missed the NFC Playoffs every season since 2004.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll may want to take a good luck at the veteran defensive end and see how much high-end football is still in the tank for the former No. 2 overall draft pick by St. Louis. If Carroll and general manager John Schneider believe that Long can help the Seahawks’ pass rush in 2016, they could essentially poach a player from a division rival to help bolster their football team.
